101 Worst Problems With First Drafts
Problem #29
Text of video below:
Mark was happy to be goofing off with his friends, and looked forward to his summer vacation.
And then…
Zombies attacked!
All hope was lost.
Deaths numbered in the hundreds daily, and every dead human meant another undead zombie to fear.
The few humans who managed to survive stayed alive by banding together in roaming caravans.
They camped out in abandoned houses and learned to live their lives on the run.
Humanity’s last great hope rested in the unsteady hands of a too-young leader.
The End.

Ah well.
That was fantastic!
Plot holes being one of the many First Draft mistakes, the silent film approach and the use of a zombie apocalypse.
Who doesn’t love zombies as subject matter? How fitting, as well, for them to be in a short video on plot holes.
I certainly see why you are a finalist. I did not participate but wanted to see what others did. I am glad I did, that was entertaining.
Thank you so much for the compliment! I have a husband obsessed with zombies; not only was it fairly easy to find pictures of the zombie apocalypse, but I get to be exposed to the gaping plot holes in almost every zombie story out there. So if I have one pet peeve when it comes to writing, it’s Problem #29 – and yet it is also the most common mistake I make myself!
Nothing worse than plot holes! Well…POT holes are worse!
Plot holes are deafening. Great video.
Thanks!
