Contest FAQ

  • What is the deadline for entries?
The last day for entries to go up is January 12th.  However since both the number of views and the number of stars a video receives will be figured into the finalist equation, having your videos up early may help improve your scores.

  • Can I use free or public domain graphics?
You can if the site from which you acquired them says they can be used in noncommercial videos.  Be VERY CAREFUL to follow all restrictions, including site linkbacks if required.

  • Where are the contest rules?

  • Can you suggest any resources for creating videos?
Lots of them :D  You’ll find my recommendations here:

  • Any suggestions on how to become a weekly finalist?
Absolutely.  Make me laugh, surprise me, let me see a specific first-draft or revision problem you as a writer have in a new way. It also won’t hurt if your video or video series gets a whole lot of views or a lot of 4-5 Star votes.

How do the videos get on the blog once they have been posted as a video-reply at YouTube?

I seemed to have lost my list of 101 Worst Problems. Where can I get another copy?

I sent one to everyone who’s on the Priority list. If you still have that e-mail, the pdf should be there. If you deleted the email, or if your spam filter ate the file, use this link to email me requesting a replacement:
